CONSIDERING MACOMB 2020?
- Are you a Macomb educator interested in providing a quality blended learning component to your teaching?
- Is your district considering a move to hybrid learning, one-to-one technology, or BYOD?
- Do you want to integrate technology in meaningful ways to support instruction?
- OR are you a district administrator interested in putting together a cohort of teachers from a district or building?
WHY MACOMB 2020?
An increase in digital learning options indicates a need for high-quality, engaging professional development to prepare teachers to teach and lead schools adopting digital technologies. Open Educational Resources (OERs) are becoming widely available, and many districts are looking at deploying digital textbooks or adding digital components to the curriculum. Online testing means that students now need to become more comfortable operating in a digital testing environment. Digital literacy has risen in importance to become a necessary skill for today's learners.
Blended learning is not just putting materials online for students to access. A quality blended class requires an understanding of the pedagogy and models of blended learning. Blended/hybrid learning also allows for the customization and personalization of learning. The pedagogy of blended learning, personalizing instruction with technology, and the ability to build a blended content that teachers can use in their face-to-face or hybrid learning classes will be the focus of the two year cycle of classes. Macomb 2020 will help teachers prepare quality instruction in a blended environment.

A BLENDED MODEL
Participants in Macomb 2020 will experience a combination of face-to-face training at MISD and blended (online) instruction via webinars using a variety of online resources available through MISD and statewide projects from REMC, including 21 Things, Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works, digital resource training, and more. Macomb 2020 will also provide support for content area integration of technology designed to improve student engagement and increase student opportunities for success. One-to-one computing is not required to implement a blended environment in the classroom, as teachers can modify their blend or use station rotation to help employ digital content.
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION
In addition to training and the ability to build a blended environment for students, teachers will also receive technology-related materials to be used for their professional development. SCECHs will be available for this program. Substitute reimbursement is also available for meeting dates throughout the year.
